STEP 1:
*

STEP 2:
# BOY ENR. # GIRL ENR. # B. SP # G. SP # BOY ATH. # GIRL ATH. # G. ATH. W/SPT # B. ATH. W/SPT

KEY:
# BOY ENR. = Number of boys enrolled
# GIRL ENR. = Number of girls enrolled
# B. SP = Number of boys' sports offered
# G. SP = Number of girls' sports offered
# BOY ATH. = Number of boy athletes (duplicated - see example)
# GIRL ATH. = Number of girl athletes (duplicated - see example)
# G. ATH. W/SPT = Number of girl athletes including spirit (cheer, pom, jazz, co-ed)
# B. ATH. W/SPT = Number of boy athletes including spirit (cheer, pom, jazz, co-ed)

EXAMPLE:
  • Calculate the duplicated or total participation rate:
Count the total number of participants by gender for all sports offered, double or triple counting students who participate in more than one sport. This rate provides a measure of total number of sports participations being offered for each gender by the athletic program.
  • If a student is enrolled in your school but participates at another school, the home school counts the student in their proportionality percentage.
  • If a school sends a student to another school to compete in a program that they do not offer, they do not count the program but count the students in their athlete numbers.
  • A student can only be counted if he/she participates in the required number of practices and competes in a scrimmage or contest.
  • Football, wrestling, ice hockey, etc., are boys' sports, girls are counted a participants (the CHSAA does not offer co-ed sports).
